On December 14, the army of Uganda launched an airstrike on the camps of Joseph Kony, the leader of the rebel Lord's Resistance Army, a ruthless militia now in northeastern Democratic Republic of the Congo that fought a war in northern Uganda for 20 years.
Rather than destroying the camps, the attack scattered the LRA fighters, who went on a rampage, brutally killing nearly 1,000 civlians in the region, burning their villages, and looting their huts.
The BBC asked Peter to analyse the attack and consequences, as well as what can and might be done to quell the violence.
